Description

SeaStar HF5534 - Elbow Fitting 3/8" Tube to 3/8" NPT Male (Pack of 3)

The Dometic SeaStar HF5534 is a set of three 90-degree elbow fittings that adapt 3/8" tube compression to 3/8" NPT male. These are used on older style SeaStar manual hydraulic steering installs that use compression fittings, letting you turn the line neatly at the helm or cylinder port where a 90-degree exit is cleaner than a straight connector.

At a Glance

  • Part No.: HF5534
  • Quantity: 3 fittings per pack
  • Ends: 3/8" tube compression to 3/8" NPT male
  • Style: 90-degree elbow
  • Material: Brass
  • Use: SeaStar manual hydraulic steering systems that use compression fittings

Compatibility Notes

  • Older style compression systems: HF5534 fits SeaStar manual systems that use 3/8" compression fittings with 9/16"-24 tube nuts.
  • Not for -3 cylinders: Newer SeaStar cylinders with part numbers ending in "-3" use ORB ports and require ORB hose fittings, not compression fittings.
  • Sealant guidance: Apply pipe thread sealant on NPT threads only. Do not use tape or sealant on compression seats.

Installation Overview - Using Compression Elbows

This quick overview is for planning only. Always follow the SeaStar installation instructions for your exact helm and cylinder.

  1. Prep the port: Verify the port is 3/8" NPT female. Clean threads.
  2. Seal NPT threads: Apply pipe thread sealant to the male NPT threads of the HF5534. Do not get sealant on the compression seat.
  3. Thread and orient: Thread into the port and orient the elbow to the desired direction. Snug to seal, avoid over-torque.
  4. Make the compression joint: Insert the 3/8" tube squarely, then tighten the compression nut until leak-free. Do not use sealant on this joint.
  5. Pressure test: Fill, purge air, and check for leaks after a short function test and again after sea trial.
