The Dometic SeaStar HA5445-3 Power Purge Jr. is the updated Gen -3 hydraulic steering fill and purge service tool with a heavy-duty aluminum reservoir. It directly replaces HA5445-2 and is designed to fill and remove trapped air from SeaStar and BayStar hydraulic steering systems.
Fill and Bleed Marine Hydraulic Steering Systems
Power Purge Jr. is service equipment for installers, marine repair shops and technicians who fill and bleed hydraulic steering systems. It is used during servicing to remove trapped air from the hydraulic circuit. It does not replace the boat's helm pump, steering cylinder or permanently installed power-assist equipment.
Designed to Reduce Fill-and-Purge Time
Dometic estimates that Power Purge Jr. can reduce a typical manual fill-and-purge job from about 30 minutes to 10 minutes or less for an experienced installer or service technician. Actual service time depends on the system configuration and the required procedure.
The Gen -3 update introduces a heavy-duty aluminum reservoir, which Dometic describes as a performance improvement over the previous design. If you are replacing a complete HA5445-2 unit, HA5445-3 is the current replacement part number.

What Changed from HA5445-2 to HA5445-3?
Dometic's July 2026 product update notice confirms two details: the new heavy-duty aluminum reservoir and the change to part number HA5445-3. Dometic identifies Gen -3 as a direct replacement and a running production change, with the -2 design being phased out.

Does bleeding the system repair a leak or worn component?
