Overview
The Dometic SeaStar HF6145 stainless steel 90-degree elbow fitting kit contains two hose elbows for older SeaStar front-mount outboard hydraulic steering cylinders with 1/4-inch NPT ports. Each elbow connects a 3/8-inch tube-style compression hose end to a 1/4-inch NPT cylinder port. The cylinder's actual port type determines fitment, even when its base part number appears in an older service manual.
Check before ordering: HF6145 is an NPT fitting. Dometic warns that NPT fittings must not be installed in -3 or -4 ORB helm or cylinder ports. Do not choose this kit from an HC model prefix alone; read the full cylinder number and inspect the port or existing fitting.
What this kit replaces
HF6145 supplies the stainless hose elbow fittings identified as item 5 in Dometic/SeaStar's older front-mount pivot cylinder service-parts diagram. It does not include a cylinder, steering hoses, bleeder fittings, or the cylinder seal kit. It is intended for a steering installation whose cylinder actually has the older matching NPT ports.

The Dometic/SeaStar front-mount outboard cylinder manual 296784AT lists HF6145 as the hose elbow service item for the following cylinder part numbers. This is a historical parts-list reference: each installation still requires a confirmed 1/4-inch NPT cylinder port.

Not for -3 or -4 ORB ports
The current guide places HF6145 in the NPT fitting section and specifically warns against installing NPT fittings in -3 or -4 helms and cylinders. In particular, do not install HF6145 into the ORB ports of HC5345-3, HC5347-3, HC5348-3, HC5358-3, HC5375-3, or HC5445-3. Those model numbers are examples of the later -3 front-mount cylinders described in Dometic's installation manual. Select the specified ORB fitting for the actual cylinder instead.

Installation
Identify the port before threading in a fitting
- Read the cylinder's full part number, including any suffix, and identify its port type in the cylinder installation manual.
- Compare the existing fitting and the cylinder port with the 1/4-inch NPT end of HF6145. An ORB port requires its designated ORB fitting, not a pipe-thread fitting.
- Follow the instructions for the installed cylinder and steering hoses when fitting, routing, filling, bleeding, and checking the steering system. Do not apply pipe-thread sealant to the hose-side compression connection.
Dometic's 2027 selection guide states that installing an NPT fitting in a -3 or -4 ORB helm or cylinder can cause irreparable damage. If the port is unclear, stop and identify the cylinder before installation.
FAQs
Will HF6145 fit an HC5345 cylinder?
It is listed for the older HC5345 in the front-mount cylinder service-parts manual, but it fits only if that particular cylinder has the matching 1/4-inch NPT port. It must not be threaded into an HC5345-3 ORB port.
Will HF6145 fit HC5347, HC5348, HC5358, HC5375 or HC5445?
The older unsuffixed models are named in the same service-parts diagram. Confirm the installed cylinder has the older NPT ports. The later -3 ORB versions require their specified ORB fittings.
Are these bleeder fittings?
No. HF6145 is the pair of 90-degree hose elbows. The older manual identifies HF5548 separately as the bleeder-fitting kit.
Can I use HF6145 on any SeaStar cylinder because the hose is 3/8 inch?
No. The hose-side size does not establish the cylinder-port thread. Confirm the cylinder-side port, model suffix, and the fitting specified in its installation manual.
