Description
Hynautic HP6039 (670030) Ball Joint Rod End - For K-22, K-27, K-28, K-29 Cylinders
The Hynautic HP6039 ball joint (also referenced as Hynautic 670030) is the rod end ball joint used on select Hynautic fixed-mount balanced steering cylinders. Over time, the ball joint can wear, loosen, or crack - replacing it restores proper articulation and helps prevent binding through the steering arc.
Features
- Replacement ball joint rod end for Hynautic steering cylinder applications
- Helps maintain smooth articulation and alignment through full steering travel
- Recommended replacement if you notice play, noise, binding, or visible cracking at the rod end
- Can be used to add a second ball joint to a K-22 configuration (to match a two ball joint setup)

Installation Tips
- Secure the rudder/tiller arm so it cannot swing when the rod end is disconnected.
- Before removing the old ball joint, inspect the mounting bolt/pin and spacers for wear - replace any worn hardware.
- After installation, cycle steering lock-to-lock and confirm there is no binding and full articulation at both ends of travel.
- If you are unsure this is the correct rod end, send Tech Support a photo of your cylinder end and the existing ball joint.
Maintenance Guidelines
- Inspect the ball joint each season for looseness, corrosion, cracking, or elongated mounting holes.
- Address any play immediately - excess movement can accelerate wear in the steering linkage.
- Keep the rod end area clean and free of buildup that can restrict movement.
FAQs
How do I know if my ball joint needs replacement?
If you see visible cracking, feel looseness/play at the rod end, hear clunking, or experience binding through the steering arc, replacement is recommended.
How many do I need?
Many cylinders use one ball joint, while some configurations use two. If you are unsure, send a photo of your cylinder and rod ends to Tech Support and we will help confirm quantity.
Can I add a second ball joint to my K-22?
Yes - HP6039 can be used as an add-on for K-22 cylinders so both ends have ball joints (matching a two ball joint setup).
