Description

Hynautic STV-10 Throttle Slave Lock Out Valve (STV-10)

The Hynautic STV10 Throttle Slave Lock Out Valve is used in Hynautic hydraulic engine control systems to help prevent unwanted throttle movement caused by vibration or strong governor return force. When installed with a throttle slave actuator, the STV-10 helps lock out the slave so throttle movement occurs only when commanded by the control input (sender).

Compatibility

  • Commonly used with Hynautic ST-04 throttle slave installations that utilize an external lock-out valve.
  • Recommended for systems experiencing engine retard or throttle drift due to vibration or governor return force.
  • Intended for use in Hynautic hydraulic engine control circuits (verify your slave model and plumbing layout before ordering).

How It Works

  • The STV-10 is installed in the throttle slave circuit to help prevent the slave arm from being back-driven.
  • This reduces unwanted throttle movement and helps keep the throttle position stable until the sender commands a change.

Installation Tips

  • Mount the STV-10 close to the throttle slave to avoid abnormal locking action and poor performance.
  • Follow the Hynautic plumbing diagram for correct port orientation and tubing routing.
  • Use a hydraulic-compatible thread sealant on NPT threads as recommended by your Hynautic procedure.
  • After installation, fill and bleed the system to remove all air and confirm smooth throttle response.

Maintenance Guidelines

  • Inspect fittings and tubing periodically for seepage and tighten/repair as needed.
  • If throttle drift returns, verify valve orientation, bleed the circuit again, and confirm correct system fluid.
  • Use the Hynautic shift and throttle control fluid specified in your manual (commonly referenced as HA5455).

FAQs

What does the STV-10 lock-out valve do?
It helps prevent the throttle slave from drifting due to vibration or strong governor return force by locking out the slave so it can be moved only by the sender/control input.
When should I add a lock-out valve to my throttle slave setup?
If you experience throttle creep, engine retard, or unwanted throttle movement - especially on engines with heavier governor springs - the STV-10 is commonly used to stabilize the throttle position.
Can I mount the STV-10 away from the throttle slave?
It should be mounted close to the slave. Longer runs between the valve and slave can contribute to abnormal locking action and poor performance.
What fluid should I use for Hynautic engine control systems?
Use the Hynautic shift and throttle control fluid specified in your Hynautic manual (commonly referenced as HA5455). Do not substitute steering fluid or engine oil.
Is this the same as an integrated lock-out throttle slave?
No. Some throttle slave designs integrate lock-out internally, while other installations use a separate lock-out valve like the STV-10.
