| Wheel Installation | Grease the shaft, install the woodruff key and wheel shaft nut, and torque the wheel nut to 150 in/lb. Do not exceed 200 in/lb. |
| Function Check | After installation, unlock the tilt latch and confirm the mechanism locks properly in every tilt position. |

Does HA6523 replace the entire tilt assembly?
Yes. HA6523 is a complete factory tilt mechanism replacement, not just a few internal service parts. It is meant to replace the full Classic Tilt or Traditional Tilt mechanism assembly.
Do I reuse any of the old tilt mechanism parts?
No. The installation instructions say to use all of the mounting hardware, plates, and mechanism included with the kit and not to reuse the older tilt parts from the old mechanism.
Can I use HA6523 on Sport Tilt or Sport Plus Tilt helms?
No. HA6523 is for Classic Tilt and Traditional Tilt applications. SeaStar Sport Tilt and Sport Plus Tilt helms use different replacement tilt mechanisms.
What problem does this kit usually solve?
It is commonly used when the helm tilt becomes loose, the detents do not hold position well, or the original tilt assembly is worn and needs to be replaced as a complete unit.
Do I need to remove the helm pump from the dash?
The installation instructions show that the old tilt mechanism is removed first and the square mounting plate and helm pump are then reattached using the included hardware. Take care to avoid kinking steering lines during replacement.
